- Brazil — "Saudade" — melancholy and sorrow (to be recognized and avoided)
- Canada — "Joie de vivre" — enjoyment of life
- China — "Xingfu" — life-happiness, well-being
- Costa Rica — "Pura vida" — optimism, happiness, "pure life"
- Denmark — "Arbejdsglæde" — contentment, job-life balance, "happiness at work"
- England — "Jolly" — general cheerfulness in the face of adversity
- Finland — "Kalsarikännit" — cozy at-home relaxation, literally "pants drunk"
- Germany — "Gemütlichkeit" — comfort-inducing pleasantness, in moderation
- Greece — "Meraki" — creative precision, devotion, undivided attention
- Hawaii — "Aloha" — love, kindness, compassion, respect
- Iceland — "Þetta reddast" — "it will all work out"
- India — "Jugaad" — frugal innovation
- Ireland — "Craic" — news and conversation
